recovery update

Hi everyone! Sharon wanted to provide an update on her recovery. ❤️‍🩹 Sharon is doing well 4 weeks post-surgery. She unfortunately found out she had Covid when she came home from the in-house rehab. Not quite the homecoming sge was looking forward to! Luckily it was a quick and mild case. She currently has an in-home nurse once a week, and in-home physical therapy twice a week, courtesy of Medicare.

On Tuesday, Sharon will start IV iron injections once a week, because she has low hemoglobin and iron. She could not stomach the oral iron pills. She is looking forward to gaining energy and her appetite back!

She is also slowly getting off some medications, which really makes her happy!

Week 8 (October 21) will be Sharon’s “freedom day!” 🙂 She will get her driving privileges back (David will be happy about that!), she won’t have to take sternum protection precautions, will be able to start cardiac rehab, be able to sleep on her side again, and she can start returning to her former exercise routines with Loey’s-Dietz precautions (no heavy weights or isometrics). Sharon has a lot to look forward to!

This will be her last blog post. Please feel free to reach out to Sharon via text or email anytime. Thank you so much for following along on her health journey. She is so thankful that everything has gone relatively well, and she is incredibly grateful to have such wonderful family, friends and neighbors who care deeply about her wellbeing.

With lots of love,

Sharon

My dad has done iron injections and did very well with them, they made a great difference in his day to day life. So happy to hear how far you have come, Dori

Thank you for sending me the blog link, it an amazing story and thank God and your motivation and determination that you succeeded and are thriving. At some time this winter I’ll be visiting Bill and MaryAnn, hoping I’ll be able to have a little visit. Keep listening to your doctors and your gut and get well soon ♥
