A whirlwind of a day

Day 7 Update: Things are going well, but lots of changing plans. At first, they said Sharon could go home this evening. Then Dr. Accola (her surgeon) came in and said he wants to send Sharon to an Advent Health Rehab Center at the Winter Park hospital, because he believes she requires additional care for a few more days. At 10 AM, they removed her catheter. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to urinate enough, so she will be seeing a urologist. They inserted another Foley catheter. She will have to leave the hospital with it tomorrow, see the urologist and then go to the rehab at Winter Park Hospital.

As always, I will keep everyone updated on Sharon’s progress. She so appreciates your thoughts and prayers. She is strong and will get through this!

🙂 Alyssa

Tomorrow will be busy ! Baby steps each day, I know it’s difficult. Think of Scott and his five kidney transplants, there was always a glitch before he was released. Your freedom shall come soon and before you know it SUSAN will be there by your side Sharon. Keep up your positive attitude and thoughts, thsts half the battle of recovery. Mitch and I love you because your so special!

Glad that they are being diligent and not sending you home before they are 100% sure this is the best plan for you.
but they are confident enough to discharge you to a care center !

Hi, Sharon (from Meg and Keith in CO)-
Dr. Accola knows best, from K’s experience. He told K during first ICU day that there was a chance he needed a pacemaker….then the Dr. continued to assess the recovery, and informed us that K could proceed fine to the regular cardiac wing.
Every day that you are in a hospital bed, means that you are weaker and need a little more time to regain energy and strength. So the rehab will get you to that point where you can safely be back at home. Take care, and eat for extra nutrition reserves.
